We offer many innovative programs that set us apart from our competitors, such as:
We also work with many schools and community groups in the Lower Mainland, providing recreational opportunities for their participants. Our Dragon Boating programs offer recreational opportunities to over 100 paddlers regularly, most of whom are North Shore residents. We also sponsor the highly successful Dash for Charity Dragon Boat Race.
We are proud to say that Deep Cove Canoe and Kayak Centre has been the recipient of the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce's Service Excellence Award and been voted the #1 Kayak and Canoe Rental business in the Georgia Straight's Best of Vancouver Yearly Contest for multiple years.
We operate our waterfront location full time from April 1 - October 31, with limited operations the rest of the year.
In an effort to better serve British Columbia's growing kayak community, in 2004 we opened a retail outlet, Deep Cove Outdoors, which is located at 352 Lynn Avenue, North Vancouver. We started with only kayaks and kayak-related products, and ran the operation as a warehouse type of enterprise. We have since expanded our product range beyond paddling to include winter merchandise such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. DCO is now North Vancouver's premium kayak, Nordic ski and snowshoe specialty store. We stock over 100 kayaks to satisfy all levels of paddlers, ranging from novice puddle jumpers to experienced open sea racers. We have a complete line of accessories, including paddles, spray skirts, rescue equipment, clothing, footwear, life jackets, roof racks, and more. In the winter, we stock Nordic skis, snowshoes and other winter sports equipment.
Our retail business is open year round and has a loyal customer base due to the extremely knowledgeable and excellent service provided by our sales staff who take a sense of pride in what we offer to our community of loyal outdoor enthusiasts. The reputation and sales of DCO have been growing in conjunction with our waterfront rental and school facility. The commitment and support of our retail store staff has been indispensable to our waterfront operation.
Our mission is to provide customers with fun and positive outdoor recreational experiences, with an emphasis on skill development and safety. We succeed by nurturing relationships with our customers as we assess their paddling and skiing abilities, learn their needs, and facilitate their recreation and relaxation goals. Through this nurturing experience, we seek to enhance their health and well-being, hoping that they will embrace paddle sports skiing as a lifelong activity.
